Înfiinţată în anul 1957, luna aprilie, sub numele de Staţiunea Experimentală Buzău, Staţiunea funcţionează de 49 de ani, în interesul cultivatorilor de legume, cu scopul de a promova legumicultura modernă, bazată pe cunoştinţe ştiinţifice, în perimetrul tradiţional al zonei Buzău.
